Singles Travel International Announces First Travel Community Social Networking Website
Singles now have a way to find the perfect travel companion
Singles Travel International Announces First International Social Networking Community Website for Single Travelers
Boca Raton FL (May 12, 2008 )—Single travelers now have a way to find the perfect travel companion, get to know group trip members before the trip, and stay in touch with friends from previous trips via Singles Travel International’s social community (www.singlestravelintl.com), the first online social network community for single travelers.
Applying Facebook-style networking to single travel lets Singles Travel Community members post personal profiles including photos, find people with similar travel interests in their neighborhood or worldwide, or find a compatible roommate for a group trip. Tammy Weiler, president of Singles Travel International (STI), said, “We’ve been designing trips for singles since 1995, but what’s been missing is a way for travelers to meet before a trip and remain in contact after.”
Weiler says the network will solve a major problem for single travelers: finding a compatible trip roommate. “People traveling solo are often thrown together with a stranger. The only thing they may have in common is a desire to avoid the hefty single supplement for their own room. Anyone who has ever had a chatty, insomniac roommate—or just someone with different travel interests—knows how that can put a damper on a trip.”
Weiler sees another role for the network, changing the dynamics of a group trip. “It usually takes a couple of days for a group to come together,” says Weiler. “But with our Singles Travel Community, the getting-to-know-you ritual happens online before the trip. So when group members meet face-to-face, it’s like traveling with good friends.”
The Singles Travel Community also provides an easy way to exchange trip photos and remain in contact after the trip. “People who have shared a great travel experience want to keep in touch,” says Weiler. “But the reality of busy lives means that people often lose contact after the first Christmas card. The Singles Travel Community offers an effortless way to keep tabs on friends—and plan the next trip together.”
Becoming a member of the Singles Travel Community is free and easy. Single travelers can sign up online and immediately post a profile. Members can maintain their privacy and control who sees their personal information. Members can also book and manage trips all in one online location. Weiler says the network is adding features. Coming soon: private chat, member travel blogs, and online photo albums.
